This was Frank's first show in Minneapolis and holy christ am I glad I was there to get it on record. I had first heard of him when Million Dead toured Europe with Jonah Matranga of FAR in 2004(?). Frank and Jonah toured together again in 2006 eventually releasing a split. I had been wanting to see this guy for a few years now but I honestly had no idea what he would bring to the table live. A truly captivating and sincere performance is what those paying attention in the Cabooze got. If I had the dough I'd follow Frank around with my little black bag and my little silver mic stand. Lomax style. I'm usually not wrong in these matters so I encourage people lend an ear. His new album "Poetry of the Deed" is out now on Xtra Mile/Epitaph Records. Frank, The Loved Ones and Murder by Death supported The Gaslight Anthem. Thanks to the bands and to The Cabooze for being cool with recording.

New End Original tapes...

From past discussions with him I think Jonah is cool with what I do. I don't think he's always necessarily cool with tons and tons of live stuff being posted online. Well, this is a gesture with the best intent of keeping the music alive & out there for those that would like to hear it. Jade Tree put out "Thriller" the only album New End Original ever recorded. There is also a "Lukewarm" single with 2 non-album b-sides. I highly encourage you to check these out from your online or offline record shop of choice. They are and will always remain timeless releases.

Much respect to Jonah, Norman Arenas, Scott Winegard, Charlie Walker, Jeremy Tappero, David Jarnstrom and Robert Lindsey. See also; Texas Is The Reason, Chamberlain, Far & Attention.

A friend of mine recorded these New End shows and was kind enough to loan me the master minidiscs so they could be digitally transfered for the first time ever.

This is a good time for this tape to surface. This was the first of four dates in a short Midwest run with Attention opening for Jonah and then coming back out for a set of Gratitude songs. Unfortunately Jeremy's mother passed away after Chicago. Jonah played Cleveland and Detroit by himself.

So this guy Jonah was in the band FAR from 91-98. Officially went "solo" in 99. He formed New End Original with a different bunch of fellas from 2000-2002. "Gratitude was formed in 2000 by Mark Weinberg (Crumb) and Thomas Becker. Initially called the Collision, the band was joined by Bob Lindsey on bass and Robbie Cronholm (Crumb) on vocals." After touring with New End Original in 02 Jonah took over on vocals. "Gratitude released a statement on November 25, 2005 claiming that they had in fact decided to split after playing one final show at the Ascot Room in Minneapolis two days earlier."

As of October 08 FAR have been playing shows again which is exciting. Jonah has been one of my favorite musicians for over 10 years now. Purchase a cd or a show ticket if you're not familiar with his doings.

Check out Jonah, check out Attention, check out Little Hot Pony.

Notes: Great show, really happy with this AUD. Strange there was no encore...they had been coming back out for 2 more at other shows. Oh well, they probably needed to be out of there by 10pm for the club's booty dance night, happy they finally made it here. Please support Jonah's music. Jeremy & Dave are still in ATTENTION. I'm sure Norman and Bob are still active.

============

This was a really special show, likely to go down in the top 10 shows I've ever seen. I've had numerous requests to reseed some Gratitude or other Jonah related material so I'll start to come through on that. This one's for Stefan in Berlin. It's been a long time since I've seeded any of the masters I taped with my older rig but I was always happy with the sound on this and the original seed received many compliments on the quality of the recording. I just re-listened to this today and it's great imho.
