Fanfaronage Album Release Party!
With
Kristoff Krane
The Triple Rock Social Club
$10 In Advance/$14 Day of Show and At The Door!
18+ | 9:00 PM | $14.00
I've know this Chris since 2005 and his talent never ceases to amaze me. He fosters a wisdom and intellect that far surpasses many 20 somethings you're going to run across today. I haven't even started talking about the music he releases which is why you should stop through The Triple Rock this evening. He's always such a busy musician that I didn't even want to bother with calling him to see who the surprise guests are. I have some amazingly sure bets that I'm not going to mention and I know that we'll have a brother looking on from some place much happier than this here planet earth.

Gastro Non Grata: Pre Earth Day Confection CarouselFriday, April 20 Doors @ 8:30, Show Starts 9:30
Tix $8 advance/ $12 door
The Triple Rock Social Club
Greetings Gastronauts. It’s time once again to celebrate separating your trash, riding your bike and winter that feels like late fall. She must be warming up to us and it’s time to say thanks to Mother Earth. Our April 20 Pre Earth Day Confection Carousel comes with a WARNING…
This is a rare Friday night show and no restaurant in their right mind would give us their chef. So we’re setting savory to the side on this one and are bringing in 3 of the most talented pastry chefs in town. So Please, make sure you eat dinner before the show because you will be receiving 3 dessert courses.
Dustan Pinlac of Levain will be the first to establish the base of your sugar rush. Christian Aldrich of Haute Dish will bring the sucrose to the second course and put your taste hairs on edge. James Beard Nominee Michelle Gayer of Salty Tart Bakery will be the one to glaze you off this candy cliff into the abyss of ethereal dulcification.
Each course will be paired with a sample of the bubbly brown stuff from Lagunitas Brewery, there’s even word that we’re going to get one of the few elusive kegs of Waldo’s Ale, an ultra rare Imperial/Double IPA that has only been available in California until now. Corey Shovein of Hohenstein Distributing will be on hand for quality control and Lagunitas craft beer dorkspeak.
The honeyed vocal styling of the Cactus Blossoms will start the night off right on the waltz tip. Heavy Deeds will be bringing their laid back grooves and harmony ambrosia on a journey between your ears to help your second course settle and Michael Gaughan will be performing as Little Dog on Top of a Big Dog to bring your saccharin soaked journey to a close with a dose of perma grin.
As always, Clancey’s Meat and Fish in Linden Hills will be providing carcass for our Dead Meat Door Prize.
Local Author Matte Resist will be on hand to answer any gardening or bike repair questions. He will also be selling and signing copies of his book How and Why : A Do It Yourself Guide.
Tickets are $8 in advance here or you can buy them at the door for $12

The Plan.
Post-Blaisdell barbecue this evening will be spent on the West Bank recording the Bloodnstuff CD Release with STNNNG and Marijuana Deathsquads at The Triple Rock. After party at The Bargain Basement Bar in South? Eterna in Northeast?
After a good brunch somewhere I'm heading over to the Midway to record the early Heiruspecs Scholarship Fundraiser Show at The Turf Club. There's also a 21+ 9pm show as well for anyone interested. Should probably skip brunch and have an early dinner at On's Thai Kitchen.
After the saying goodbye to The Turf it's Downtown to Hell's Kitchen for Father You See Queen, Canyons of Static (West Bend, WI) and Paragraphs. Extremely excited for this bill. My first time seeing Mark's new project FYSQ, Canyons is one of my favorite bands and haven't been through town since the October 2011 Empty's Tapes Presents show at HK and I've always loved Paragraphs. First show in a long time! Cheese curds, giant pretzels with jalapeno cheese sauce and chicken & biscuit sandwiches with country gravy et cetera. All of this will be done without a car. See you in the streets! Three shows, two days, two cities and one river.

I first caught up with Frank (Winchester, Englad) in October '09 at The Cabooze. I for one appreciate what he has to say so I'll keep recording his shows as long as he's cool with it. Come to think of it, he's been stopping through town once a year for a while now. The 2010 show supporting Social Distortion sold out First Avenue. I believe this was his first time headlining in Minneapolis and tickets sold out well in advance of the show. Andrew Jackson Jihad (Phoenix) and Into It. Over It. (Chicago) supported. I'll try to get those sets posted down the road but don't hold me to it. Please support Frank by picking up the official releases. Thanks as always to The Triple Rock and to Loopy.

As per my previous post PJ and I divided and conquered Friday night. He held down The Triple Rock to get a stellar capture of The Appleseed Cast while I was across town at N & E for MDS. Thanks PJ! Previous years are available as well; 2009 and 2010.

The Appleseed Cast Vs. Marijuana Deathsquads
I was pretty torn about tonight. I've recorded The Appleseed Cast the past two years in a row (2009 and 2010) at The Triple Rock but I also spent a good 6 months recording the Marijuana Deathsquads residency at Nick & Eddie last year. With things coming full circle at Nick & Eddie tonight for the Deathsquads LP release I was happy to hear that P.J. will be covering The Triple Rock!

Somewhat hard to believe that this was Harvey Milk's first time playing Minneapolis but they certainly did not disappoint. I'm still processing "The Anvil Will Fall" encore. Gay Witch Abortion and Myiasis supported. Thanks to Harvey Milk and The Triple Rock for allowing this recording to happen. Huge thanks to Dusty Miller for his time in doing the 4 track mix. What's up to Dutch and Sloan holding it down in Athens. I do love the wordpress disclaimer. "this is pretty much for tour dates and stuff, dont expect much. at least its not myspace or facebook."

If you dig around this place you'll find some full Children of Euler sets. This time around I just wanted to share one track. This was the first time I was able to record them at The Triple Rock and sonically it's perhaps the best COE set I've been able to capture. Who's ready to buy a copy of the Terracide / Children of Euler Split LP? Limited to 500 copies on colored vinyl available soon!

Two Farewell Shows Two Venues.

Earlier this week a friend had invited me to join a group of people leaving town Friday for a remote location over an hour north of the city. At first the idea of getting out of town sounded appealing especially since I don't usually leave unless it's on a plane. No running water or electricity? Multiple people bringing boats to take out on the lake? Fireside conversations and a surplus of encased meats grilled over an open fire? I could use a little dose of nature, yeah that sounds nice.
Then I asked myself who would record these 2 farewell shows if I left town? The mental rolodex began to spin but I wasn't having any luck. No. I can't leave town this weekend. Yes friends, Mother Nature has been forsaken in the name of 1s & 0s.
Well we all know that the party tonight is with TGNP at Jager but sometimes the ultimate summer party gets forsaken as well. Tonight...

Myrrh, Children of Euler and Scaphe supported Clump at their cassette release show for Chrism. I first saw Myrrh in 2009 at The Bedlam Theatre and they've never stopped awing me. No disrespect intended to the other tight sets of the evening but Myrrh stole the show in my opinion. They have no website and to my knowledge they only have one cassette of recorded material that's available at the shows. Thanks to the bands and to The Triple Rock for allowing me to record.

Double Duty This Evening In The 554xx.
Some days it's just easier to bring your gear to work and set it in the corner while you wait for 5:00 to roll around.
Eric Funn and I are from the same soil but that's not why I like the guy. The past few weeks I've caught him busking downtown on the daily Nicollet lunch walk. I would find myself standing there wondering why more people weren't paying attention to the words coming out of his mouth. Eric told me he's written over 500 songs and the 6 or so that I've heard are all rock solid. Being the shy Midwesterner that I am it wasn't until yesterday that I walked up and introduced myself. I've been meaning to record some street busking for the past couple years and tonight it's going down. I've been trying to ignore Facebook lately but if I hadn't checked Eric's page after talking with him I never would have known about The New Hub City CD Release Busktacular. Eric's latest release is 11 tracks and can be had for $5 or whatever you can afford. Catch him tonight on Nicollet Mall and 8th Street downtown.
Now we come to the original plan for tonight... Clump's Cassette Release Show at The Triple Rock. To be completely honest the only time I've seen Clump was at Memory Lanes and I was so highly distracted that night that I have no opinion of them (yet). However, I'm a long time supporter of Children of Euler and would not miss the chance to see them in one of my favorite rooms. Scaphe are well known and respected around town. In my opinion they delivered one of the best metal sets at Heliotrope last May. Speaking of Heliotrope, Myrrh who is the third supporting band tonight was one of my favorite sets from the entire 3 night festival. All and all things are looking up at 629 Cedar this evening.
People have jokingly suggested that I need an intern to help get everything recorded. Sometimes I think they might be right. Why? Because covering the two shows mentioned above means that I will have to miss Cecil Otter, Crescent Moon is in Big Trouble and A. Wolf & Her Claws at The Guthrie Theatre as part of the Cadence Hip Hop Series Hosted by Dessa from Doomtree. Who's rolling tape on that one?

This was the release show for Zebulon Pike's new LP Space Is the Corpse of Time. The Book of Right On and Battlefields supported. How can you complain about that bill? The Book of Right On? Seen them 8-9 times and they can do no wrong in my eyes. Everyone was glad to see Battlefields back on point and Zebulon Pike of course stole the show. That comes fairly easy for them. Welcome back from another European tour Fellas. Thanks to the bands and to The Triple Rock for allowing the 1s & 0s to be documented. Heard the new Zebulon Pike yet?
ps - Where's the rest of the set you ******* ****?! They played the album from start to finish with the addition of "And Blood Was Passion." The idea of people hearing a live recording before the real thing seemed silly to both Fancy Ray and I. Lo Siento.
